Anmore Elementary School Mural

Last year we worked as Visiting Artists with Grade K to 5 students at Anmore Elementary School in Coquitlam on a ceramic mural.  As the school is in a forest environment each student made an individual piece and these were integrated on a background of simple plywood shapes suggestive of forest forms by individual leaves.

This year we will be workingwith students, staff and parents at Edmonds Community School in Burnaby on a project that will celebrate diversity.

Edmonds Community School

This year we've been working with students, staff and parents at our local Edmonds Community School.  The school is a bit of a microcosm for Burnaby which is the most ethnically diverse city in Canada with over 100 languges spoken.

The cermaic mural "From Many Places" features luggage tags made by all the students on background tiles of a world map and the names of the world's countries, bordered by glazed tiles by the parents and supported by panels of text tiles.  Installation will be in September.
