| Funerary Urns and Reliquaries | It is rewarding to work with clients to develop ideas
around such a personal and sensitive issue. Bob is a pilot and wanted to enjoy the sculpture before his last flight. It has references to the New Guinea Cargo Cult that developed around crashed planes in WW II. Reliquary for the Last Salmon was part of an exhibition on diminishing salmon stocks. The salmon is part of the earth with the mountains, the overlaid water sticks and the sky sticks. Departed Friends is for the remains of several special pets and as well as space for ashes, has interior trays for memorabilia. Other urns have been made from unfired clay, complete with lowering cords for private ceremonies. The unfired clay will eventually return to the earth and allow the contents to do the same. |
